Job description: Job Description Our client, a prominent and ever-expanding figure in the fuel sector, is in search of an Accountant to become part of their St. John’s, Newfoundland team.This role offers a permanent position within a dynamic environment, ideal for a forward-thinking and optimistic individual with a strong work ethic. Under the guidance of the Assistant Controller, the successful candidate will oversee the accurate recording, verification, and reconciliation of transactions to maintain the integrity of accounting records.Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Aid in the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements
• Prepare financial reports relating to gross margins and cash flow
• Account reconciliations
• Journal entries
• General ledger maintenance
• Government remittances
• Fixed assets tracking and depreciation recording
• Investigate and work to resolve discrepancies
• Contribute to corporate compliance measures
• Prepare meeting materials for financial reporting to senior and executive team members
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, accounting, or other related field
• CPA designation or actively enrolled in CPA is an asset
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including preparation of financial reports and/or working papers
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Demonstrated knowledge of accepted accounting rules, processes, laws, and requirements
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a collaborative team environment
• Proven organizational and prioritization skills with a strong attention to detail
