Job description: The Canadian Brewhouse Group is seeking an experienced Accountant with a strong background in accounting principles and practices. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience, a CPA designation, and a degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (BCom). Experience in the hospitality sector, including restaurants, bars, and hotels, will be considered a significant asset.Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close procedures including reconciliation of accounts and investigation of discrepancies
- Maintain accounting practices, processes, and internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards
- Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports to management
- Prepare year-end working papers, liaise with auditors, and provide necessary documentation as required
- Support the preparation of corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with local and federal tax regulations
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal government reporting requirements, filings and related payments, including GST/PST
- Support the operations department with routine finance tasks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and identify areas for improvement
- Perform trend, variance, sensitivity, and other ad-hoc financial analysis and modelling
- Provide leadership to accounting technicians and accounting clerks, assisting with appropriate accounting treatment of transactions
- Other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (BCom).
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in the hospitality industry (restaurants, bars, hotels) is preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
