Job description: Miles HR has an opportunity for an Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established family owned company located in downtown Vancouver. Reporting to the Controller you will be responsible for accounting tasks including bank reconciliations, GST payments, posting sales and a/p entries and month end financial statements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. This role involves managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This position is best suited to the candidate who is currently enrolled in the CPA program.Key Responsibilities:

  • Month end entries
  • Post sales and A/p entries
  • Post daily cash receipts
  • Month end Financial Statements
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and balance sheets.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and standards.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and manage payroll processes.
  • Assist with tax preparation and filing.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Handle any ad hoc financial tasks as required.
  • Reporting to the Controller

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Enrolled in CPA program preferred.
  • Proven experience as an accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Experience with New Views an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
