Job description: AccountantKelowna, BCAbout the client:Our client is a group of companies that manufacture and distribute their products worldwide. This is a full-time 100% in-office role in Kelowna and does not offer relocation.We are looking for an individual who has several years of experience in public practice and an additional 3 to 4 years of industry experience. Energetic and adaptable to a dynamic, changing environment.We do not require a CPA designation but are looking for an individual with a diploma or certificate in accounting.Responsibilities:

  • Providing credit information & references to vendors
  • Assist in Invoicing of Customers
  • Review & verification of monthly lead sheets
  • Complete monthly consolidation (individual and consolidated companies)
  • Prepare income statement and Balance Sheet
  • Ensure GL transactions balance by entity
  • Reconcile month end inventory and PO accrual balances to GL
  • Provide General Ledger analysis and reconciliation as required
  • Complete all month end journal entries, analysis to closing
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Responsibility of preparation and consolidation of Budget – overviewed by the Director of Finance
  • Assist with preparation and analysis of departmental reports as required
  • Provide various accounting related assistance to other departments as required
  • Responsible for generating accurate, timely and complete financial statements for review by the Director of Finance
  • Knowledge of current internal & external regulations & policies relating to finance
  • Manage group and employee benefit programs
  • Government reporting and filing compliance

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years in a full cycle accounting role
  • Accounting diploma or degree required
  • Experience with intercompany transactions
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Works in a steady, even pace to promote accuracy & quality of work
  • High attention to detail
  • The ability to thrive within routines
  • Has an analytical/technical focus
  • Organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Works well within defined regulations, policies and procedures
  • Strong computer skills within Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Solid grasp for understanding data analysis and the ability to interpret & communicate results
  • Understanding of ISO and internal control requirements
