Job description: Accountant, Castlegar, British ColumbiaWhen you join our team as a Accountant, you will be responsible for description/sentence(s) of what they will be responsible for processing contractor pay, log sales and stumpage. The candidate will also track marine data, and will perform various month end accounting tasks, as well as provide support to other accounting staff.What You’ll Do
- Process and manage contractor pay – data entry, contract management and payment to contractors on bi-monthly basis
- Process and manage log sales invoicing & reconciliations
- Prepare accruals and process payments relating to stumpage & waste
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly & annual financial entries
- Manage marine data tracking and marine services invoicing
- Process accounts receivable transactions
- Assist with internal recurring reports, along with ad hoc and statutory reporting
- Assist and provide backup support to other accounting staff as required
What You Offer
- Manufacturing or operational accounting experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business
- Forest industry experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Strong problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Ability and self-motivation to work independently
- Ability to effectively and courteously communicate information and clarify requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and other departments
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
- Understand the importance of teamwork and have a positive impact on the team
