Job description: Job Description:Our client in Calgary is currently seeking an experienced Accountant and AP/AR Specialist to join their finance department and support the company’s financial operations.As an Accountant and AP/AR Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining the financial health of the organization by overseeing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with monthly financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, intermediate Excel skills, and proficiency with Sage 50.Key Responsibilities:Accounts Payable (AP):

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to AP.

Accounts Receivable (AR):

  • Process customer invoices and track payments.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and manage collections.
  • Reconcile AR accounts and ensure all customer payments are recorded accurately.
  • Provide regular AR reports to management and assist in cash flow forecasting.
  • General Accounting:
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Record financial transactions, including journal entries and adjustments.
  • Support the finance team in maintaining accurate general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and file necessary tax reports and other regulatory filings.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Prepare financial reports as needed for management review.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Perform reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.

Software & Tools:

  • Utilize Sage 50 for financial reporting and accounting functions.
  • Use Excel to analyze data, create financial models, and generate reports.

Requirements:Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on AP/AR.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
  • Proven experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Training & Development industry or similar sectors.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
