Job description: Accountant – Financial ReportingOur client is searching for an Accountant – Financial Reporting to join their team. This role is responsible for internal and external financial reporting, general ledger management, internal controls, variance analysis and ad-hoc finance projects supporting the operations of the company. A successful candidate will display excellence and passion for financial reporting, keen attention to detail and accuracy, delivering the highest quality product to internal and external stakeholders. This role reports directly to the Controller.Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Be responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS, as well as MD&A and compliance packages
- Be accountable for research and preparation of statutory financial statements and reports for filing with regulatory agencies based on application of relevant accounting standards
- Analyze impacts of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on existing and new transactions
- Have ownership and technical authority on accounting for complex financial instruments, including but not limited to revenue recognition, asset retirement obligations and property, plant and equipment
- Assist in maintaining overall integrity of the general ledger and support the month-end close process
- Liaise closely with overall Finance Department to ensure cross-functional cohesion and vacation coverage
- Coordinate and manage the external audit processes
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Your strengths include:
- CPA Designation with experience in a financial reporting capacity within a public-issuer entity, joint venture, or partnership, is preferred
- Knowledge of Dynamics 365, and experience with system implementations is considered an asset
- Strong accounting analysis skills with direct experience with IFRS 15 is preferred
- Experience in understanding and interpreting complex commercial agreements in a joint venture, or partnership
- Ability to work within a tea, and influence and share knowledge
- Must be willing to make decisions, in line with the processes and policies and have a depth of experience to assist in the creation of policies and procedures
