Closing Date: open until filledSalary: This position starts at $65,000 per year and increases to $89,000 per year, over a 10- year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth and development within the organization.Purpose of the jobDIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a full-time Accounting Administrator to provide support to our finance team. Reporting to Sr. Accounting Administrator, the Assistant Manager is responsible for Finance operations of DIVERSEcity.Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports Accounting operations including accounts receivable and accounts payable and all statutory reporting/remittances.
  • Review accounts payable coding, approval and ensure payment details are correct and payments are made on time.
  • Support in reconciling all accounts on monthly basis.
  • Recommend and implement changes for existing processes to improve efficiency and operating effectiveness.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and provides reporting support on contract performance (financial and otherwise).

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with all levels of the staff to provide information and answer any questions in regard to finance, budget and contracts;
  • Liaises with departmental Managers to resolve contracts and budget issues.
  • Establishes collaborative, high integrity relationships at the management level with funders, partners, colleagues, and government authorities.
  • Ensures the accuracy and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for exempt and union employees in compliance with all necessary regulations and laws.
  • Supports completion of standard year end payroll tasks including statutory reporting (T4s, T4As, etc.).
  • Supporting the implementation of new accounting or payroll system including but not limited to providing training to employees and creating training manuals.
  • Support in the administration of the Group Health and Manulife benefit programs and plans.
  • Support in administration of the employee pension plan.
  • Special projects and other related duties, as required.

Key Liaison

  • Internally with Program and Administration staff
  • Externally with funders, customers, partners, Canada Revenue Agency, auditor, banks and Community Social Services Employers Association (CSSEA).

Qualifications

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant or Certified Payroll Management designation or equivalent education and experience from a recognized program.
  • 1 to 3 years of related progressive experience in a complex labour relations environment (non-profit preferably) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership and work independently and collegially in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and make sound judgments using conciseness and credibility built through expertise knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a demanding work schedule with competing priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to stream workflow processes and implement continuous improvements within your team.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a highly functioning team with limited resources.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural experience and/or knowledge of immigrant settlement and integration issue
  • Experience in a community based non-profit society.
  • Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution and contract interpretation skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and budget management skills.
  • Experience in Sage (accounting system), Payworks (payroll system), Microsoft Office and other social media/systems applications.
