Job description: RoleReporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Assistant plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to the accounting department. This position encompasses a range of clerical and bookkeeping tasks that are essential for maintaining the integrity of financial operations. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for ensuring that financial records are managed with precision and timeliness, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the department’s financial reporting and management processes.Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Maintain and organize accounting files and documents, ensuring that all records are kept up to date and easily retrievable
  • Support the accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment processing, and account reconciliation
  • Perform data entry tasks, including entering financial data into accounting software and databases
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end financial audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors
  • Support the accounting team with various administrative tasks and special projects as needed
  • Communicate with vendors and clients regarding billing inquiries and discrepancies as directed
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and relevant experience is preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required
  • Familiarity with accounting software (such as QuickBooks or ViewPoint) is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
