We believe that our diverse perspectives and experiences make us better equipped to serve our customers and communities.The opportunityAn exciting opportunity exists in our Finance department within the Metals division for an Accounting Clerk located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The purpose of this position is to record day-to-day transactional accounting activities and support all business units in achieving their financial targets and strategic objectives.Our standard work schedule includes a full-time on-site presence to foster collaboration and community. We offer adaptable flexibility to ensure that our team members can succeed while balancing personal commitments.In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing and performing the treasury function for the Fort Saskatchewan site including monthly bank reconciliations, disbursements, cash receipts, signatory management, liaison with Corporate Treasury regarding foreign banking requirements and related accounting needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory tax payments including corporate tax instalments, as well as GST, as prescribed by the Corporate Tax Group.
  • Providing backup support primarily for the AP clerks, as well as various positions within the accounting team as required.
  • Supporting the Manager, Accounting on various continuous improvement and growth initiatives.
  • Representing Finance and provide support for Fort Site Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Ensuring the integrity and stability of the Joint Venture (JV) by adhering to JV Agreements and maintaining consistent monthly transfers for products and services between the JV and shareholders in line with these agreements.
  • Supporting the enhancement and management of accounting systems and internal controls to ensure the fiscal integrity of the business, while continually optimizing the Fort Site’s control environment.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • College Diploma in Business or Accounting.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Understanding of current accounting best practices and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and tools that create efficiency and accelerated change.
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.
