The successful candidate will be involved in various projects and have several daily responsibilities that contribute to the team. This will be a 4 or 8-month work term starting May 2025.Reporting to: Senior Financial AnalystDuties & Responsibilities:Accounts Payable Support:Processing large volumes of AP invoices in a timely and accurate manner.Ensuring appropriate approvals have been received prior to posting invoices.Assisting with uploading and/or entering purchase orders and change orders.Cleaning up outstanding PO commitments as part of job closeout.Preparing cheque runs and EFT payments.Managing the AP email inbox and the accounts receivable email inbox.Distributing payment notification emails and applying cash receipts for payments.Addressing vendor inquiries and disputes.Reconciling vendor statements.Setting up new vendors and processing supplier credit applications.Assisting project accountants with compilation of backup for client billings.Financial Month End Close:Reconciliations: Balance bank accounts and sub-ledgers to control accounts, including A/P, A/R, prepaid and foreign exchange.Sales tax remittances: Preparation and reconciliation of monthly sales tax accounts and submit for timely remittance.Adjustments: Prepare correcting journal entries where required.External Reporting & Financial Analysis:Sales tax: GST and PST filings for various entities in different provinces.Statistics Canada: Prepare and file the required returns.Audit: Prepare documentation and liaise with external auditors.Special projects as directed by the Manager.Daily:Communication: Liaise with team members, management, Accounting and Operations.Interdepartmental support: Assisting accounts payable, project accounting, or payroll with reconciliations, document control or processing.Accounts receivable: Application of payments to outstanding invoices (cash receipts).Lean mindset: Seek continuous improvements and improved processes.Documentation: Maintain procedural documentation for all areas of responsibilities.Compliance: Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures.Accounting standards: Ensure company adherence to ASPE.Skills & Knowledge:Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail and analytical skills.Self-starter who takes initiative, meets deadlines and accountable to escalate issues promptly.Adaptable and motivated to take on new responsibilities.Qualifications & Experience:General knowledge of basic accounting principles.Accounting Diploma preferred, minimum of 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Professional written and verbal communication and general office skills.Apply now for your exceptional career opportunity!
