We work alongside our members throughout their lives, saving them over 22 million dollars through year-round collaboration on optimal tax strategies and planning, allowing them to focus on what matters most: running their businesses and enriching their communities.Position Overview:With a focus on revenue recognition and reporting, the Accounting Specialist supports the business leaders to ensure that revenue collected from our customers is accurately captured, reported on, and sales tax is remitted to the Government as required.The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of sales tax calculation and governance, electronic payment processing, subscription management, and accounts receivable.If you have a proven ability to manage internal client relationships, collaborate effectively with team members, and demonstrate strong communication, attention to detail, and deadline management skills, this role is for you.Key Responsibilities:
- Weekly and Monthly Deposit and Bank Reconciliations.
- Reconcile all cash accounts and prepare post the required journal entries.
- Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and intercompany accounts.
- Assist with month-end close and the preparation of month financial statements.
- Manage product subscriptions across online platforms.
- Collaborate with team members to investigate and quickly resolve discrepancies.
- Accurately prepare sales tax remittance reports for approval and payment. Reconcile revenue postings with deposits and accounts receivable.
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures for assigned functions.
- Manage relationships with third party vendors (e.g. Moneris).
- Perform various other finance duties as required.
What You Bring:Education and Experience:
- Accounting degree or diploma.
- 3+ years of accounting experience.
- On the job proficiency with revenue recognition and reporting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Microsoft office skills, with advanced excel proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information to ensure the privacy of client, vendor and company information.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of processes and data.
- Exceptional investigative and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong collaborations skills along with the ability to work well other team members.
- Proven ability to resolve client and vendor issues effectively.
