For our Construction line in Canada, we are looking for an Accounting and administration officer who will be part of the Finance Department within our Canadian Delegation.We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant to join our construction company’s finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly within the construction industry, and possess expertise in utilizing SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products) and QuickBooks for managing financial data and processes. This role involves handling various financial tasks, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and utilizing SAP to optimize financial operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize SAP to manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and expense reports.
- Ensure proper coding, classification, and documentation of financial transactions in accordance with company policies and industry standards
- Perform regular reconciliations, including bank statements, vendor accounts, and intercompany transactions.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during reconciliations.
- Generate financial reports and statements using SAP’s reporting capabilities, providing accurate and timely information to management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and forecasts
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted figures and provide insights into any deviations
- Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, legal regulations, and internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of tax documentation and financial audits, providing necessary information and reports.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancement within the financial function, utilizing SAP’s functionalities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Participate in system upgrades and implementations, providing insights from an accounting perspective.
- Collaborate with different departments within the construction company, such as project management and procurement, to ensure accurate financial data exchange and reporting.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of documents related to projects, contracts, permits, and other administrative matters. Ensure easy retrieval of information when needed.
- Oversee the daily operations of the office, including managing supplies, equipment, and office space to ensure a well-organized and functional work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
- Proven working experience within the construction industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in utilizing SAP’s financial modules and QuickBooks for data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Strong written and communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- At least 3 years of general accounting experience in a similar role
