Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Analyst, Corporate Accounting plays a crucial role within the Corporate Accounting team. This role is responsible for day-to-day Corporate Accounting operations, supporting month-end processes, and meeting internal and external reporting deadlines. We are seeking a results-driven individual with excellent communication skills and a robust technical understanding of accounting transactions.You Will:Execute various month-end tasks, including populating FX inputs, managing accrued liability and prepaid accounts, preparing SG&A accruals, managing stock-based compensation accounts, reviewing debt balances, preparing various Balance Sheet account reconciliations etc.Prepare intra-/ intercompany eliminationsCollaborate with the Capital Accountant to manage Corporate in-service assetsRecord transactions in the non-GAAP general ledger and provide reports and analysis on the balancesPrepare monthly income statement analyses for Corporate segment, along with quarterly actual vs. budget variance analysesServe as the primary point of contact for tax queries and reporting.Manage FX revaluation and consolidation process, as well as quarterly legal entity accountingManage Blackline accounts as administrator (super user).Participate in cross-training opportunities related to bank reconciliations and lease accountingPerform ad-hoc financial projects as neededYou Have:3-5 years of relevant accounting experienceTechnical knowledge of GAAP (US GAAP preferred), with a working understanding of the energy industry preferredFamiliar with various applications, including ERP systems, BlackLine, Workiva, QuickLaunch, etc.Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field.Completion of or near completion the CPA designation is preferred.For Canadian hires: AltaGas hires personnel on the basis of job-related qualifications.
