Job title: Asphalt Plant Manager

Job description: OverviewOur team is looking for an Asphalt Plant Manager to oversee our asphalt plants that are located across Northern Alberta, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is a full-time year-round position.Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to plant operators and ground people.

· Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities.· Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to meet project deadlines.

  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure the asphalt meets required specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on materials and finished products.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports, safety records, and other necessary documentation.

· Liaise with civil engineers and project managers in the coordination and distribution of asphalt material.

  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping. Administrative duties such as reviewing timesheets and daily hours. Submit purchase order slips, invoices, and expense reports to accounting in a timely manner; ensure all costs are accounted for and can be allocated appropriately.
  • Liaise with the Human Resource and Safety department on a variety of employee-related issues, including employee development, recruitment, benefits, training, terminations, and investigations.
  • Cultivate a work environment committed to the health and safety of all employees.
  • Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.

Qualifications:· A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.· Minimum 10 years working experience.· Good experience in mining or civil/electrical engineering is strongly preferred.· Management training or experience in asphalt plants and/or road construction operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of asphalt plant procedures, equipment, and OHS guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.
  • Positive attitude, self-confident, self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with strong problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and confidentiality with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • As this is a safety sensitive position, pre-employment drug screening is in effect.
