Edmonton, AlbertaOn behalf of our client Russel Metals, we are currently searching for an Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate must be self-driven, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.Reporting to the Regional Controller, as the Assistant Controller you will complete the full accounting cycle accounting duties as well as provide financial coaching to Regional & Branch Management.As the Assistant Controller, you will:

• Ensure financial information is complete and correct. Including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis as required.
• Prepare daily, monthly reports and analysis reports as required by management in the region.
• Capture, interpret, and ensure an understanding of financial information.
• Assist with payables functions for multiple divisions.
• Complete day-to-day administrative tasks to maintain information files.

You and Your Experience:

• Post-secondary education in the field of Accounting or Finance.
• Proficient in all MS Office applicants, with advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large amounts of data and existing spreadsheets and tracking documents.
• Prior experience with Oracle financials and/or Experience with AS400 based inventory management systems an asset.
• Able to identify accounting issues, troubleshoot solutions and make corrections.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy required.
• Highly organized with the ability prioritize multiple demands.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
• Time management and attention to detail skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a deadline driven, fast paced environment.
• Committed to continuous learning, including questioning be open to ongoing constructive feedback.
