The School of Business hosts four departments: General Management & Human Resources, Accounting & Finance, International Business & Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship, Marketing & Social Innovation. The School of Communication Studies consists of four majors: Journalism and Digital Media, Broadcast Media Studies, Information Design, and Public Relations.The Bissett School of Business is an accredited member of EFMD, a global, non-profit, membership-driven organization dedicated to management development.About the Department of Accounting and FinanceThe Department of Accounting and Finance offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in both Accounting and Finance. The BBA – Accounting major prepares students for careers as professional accountants in public practice, corporate enterprises, and public institutions. Students completing the BBA – Accounting major can graduate by completing six core accounting and four optional accounting/finance courses. Alternatively, students can choose accounting courses to be prepared for direct entry to the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Professional Education Program (PEP). The BBA – Accounting program also includes an Honours Program and a Co-operative Education option.About the RoleThe Department of Accounting and Finance in the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will commence on July 01, 2025. This position will be hired into the Teaching-Service (TS) work pattern. The TS work pattern includes teaching (the equivalent of eight (8) three-hour classes per week each academic year) and service at the Department, Faculty, and/or University levels. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses on accounting data analytics and accounting information systems and to support the development of an analytics curriculum in the Accounting program.The successful candidate will become an integral member of our accounting team and contribute meaningfully to departmental priorities and activities. As MRU considers developing industry connections to be a critically important part of our programs, the selected candidate may be required to actively liaise with industry partners and professional associations on behalf of the department and the Bissett School of Business.QualificationsThe following qualifications are required:
- A completed Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a Master’s Degree in Accounting or a Master’s Degree in a related business discipline or higher from an accredited post-secondary institution (AACSB, EQUIS, EFMD, or equivalent)
- A Chartered Professional Designation in Accounting such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
Additionally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a professional environment
- Practical experience or background in business analytics
- Demonstrated proficiency in teaching
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- A willingness to mentor and coach students
