Please see below to learn more about this great summer opportunity.As ATB’s next ATB 101 Financial Analyst, Corporate Accounting, you will gain entry-level experience for industry accounting, including foundational experience with data analysis and journal entries, reconciliations of general ledger accounts including validation of balances, and exposure to internal and external financial reporting. In addition to making an impact on the day-to-day accounting processes, your work in corporate accounting will provide meaningful information to aid senior management’s key decisions for ATB Financial through opportunities such as the preparation of monthly financial results and presentation slides.This is a hybrid position. You will work from our ATB Place corporate office in Edmonton (approximately 20-40% onsite).Accountabilities

  • Reconciliation and maintenance of general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Generate and post journal entries, including consolidation and elimination entries, to accurately record financial transactions and maintain an updated general ledger.
  • Assist in the periodic closing processes, contributing to the timely and accurate completion of financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide general accounting support and address inquiries related to financial transactions.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions, ensuring financial data integrity.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the corporate accounting function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program with a specialization in Accounting, working towards CPA designation.
  • An analytical mind, always seeking to learn more, dissect problems, and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to stand up, speak out, and identify opportunities for change.
  • Eagerness to roll up your sleeves, take on and seek out new challenges.
  • An innovative, digital and entrepreneurial growth mindset. Someone works well in a virtual environment.

  • High proficiency with computer applications, especially Google.

  • Keen to gather information and seek answers and solutions that ensure the quality and integrity of your deliverables.
