- Corporate Banking, Loan Syndications, Project Finance, Trade Finance, Debt Capital Markets (DCM),
- Rates, FX, Commodities & Fixed Income Sales & Trading
- M&A Advisory, Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) and Private Equity
- Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Institutional Equity Sales & Trading, and Institutional Research
The corporate banking group comprises a number of industry groups: Diversified Industries, Energy, Project Finance, Infrastructure, Renewables, and Loan Syndications. ATB Capital Markets is looking for a Summer Student to join our Corporate Banking group for the Summer 2025 Term.The successful candidate will support ATB CM’s largest and most complex clients, joining a dynamic group of Corporate Bankers who provide deep expertise and advice in structuring and proposing complex debt, equity and hybrid products and solutions.AccountabilitiesIndividuals will be assigned to different teams within the Corporate Bank and work on a wide variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit, some of which may include:
- Assisting with financial modeling and risk analysis for corporate banking clients.
- Interacting and supporting joint work with DCM, ECM, and Investment Banking.
- Act as a trusted partner, building relationships with our clients, framing potential opportunities and providing/identifying complex debt, hybrid and equity solutions for mid to large-sized companies.
- Serve as a deep expert across a variety of complicated financial products and topics, including but not limited to financial markets (such as FX/derivatives), cash management, equity capital markets / debt capital markets, loan syndications; working in an integrated framework to assist in delivery of ancillary products to our client base.
Skills, experience & requirements
- Currently enrolled in an MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Business / Commerce with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting.
- Must be willing to work onsite 5 days per week at our office located on 8th Avenue Place in Calgary, AB.
- Past experience in financial services is preferred (investment banking, corporate finance, consulting or other relevant experience).
- Strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills.
- Have a strong sense of personal accountability. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and proactively takes personal accountability to ensure that deliverables are accurate and of high quality.
- Come with an inquisitive and growth mindset. Be confident to ask questions, seek information, dissect problems, and suggest innovative solutions.
- Outstanding quantitative and analytical skills to support recommendations and advice.
- Someone who’s not afraid to try new things, take risks, proactively manage their own work, maintain their own timelines and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
