Our club serves hundreds of athletes—from young children discovering snow sports for the first time to elite competitors training at a national level. As a not-for-profit organization rooted in volunteerism, our impact is only possible through the behind-the-scenes efforts of committed professionals like you.As our Bookkeeper, you’ll play a central role in keeping our operations running smoothly and transparently. Your meticulous approach to accounting will support our athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers—and help ensure that we can continue delivering high-quality programs for years to come.Please Note: This is a part-time (14-16 hrs/week), flexible, work from home opportunity.What You’ll Be Doing:Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Treasurer, you’ll manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting needs of the Club, including:Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the GM and Treasurer.
• Overseeing payroll and ensuring compliance with CRA and WCB.
• Processing accounts payable and receivable, including EFTs and installment payments.
• Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and Zone4 transactions monthly.
• Supporting our grant reporting and managing the financial logistics for AGLC casino fundraising.
• Coordinating our year-end financial audit and maintaining all year-end working papers.
• Ensuring vehicle and trailer insurance and registration are up to date.
• You’ll also collaborate with program leads and race organizers to track revenues and costs, helping ensure the sustainability of our operations.

Who You Are:

• You’re a numbers person through and through, with 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a not-for-profit setting.
• You bring expertise in Sage50 or similar accounting software and understand the nuances of nonprofit GAAP.
• You love a good reconciliation, pay attention to detail, and take pride in clear, organized records.
• You work independently, meet deadlines with ease, and know how to communicate financial information in a way others can understand.
• You value community, accountability, and making a difference through your work.

What We’d Like to See on Your Resume:We welcome applications from candidates with diverse experiences and perspectives. That said, here are some things that will stand out:

• A track record of at least 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a non-profit or community organization.
• Proficiency with Sage50 or other accounting software and comfort navigating full-cycle accounting in a small or midsize organization.
• Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, bank and credit card reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting.
• Familiarity with grant reporting, AGLC compliance, and casino fundraising considered an asset.
• Evidence of strong time management and organizational skills—we’ll notice if your resume is clear and well-structured.
• A relevant credential (e.g. CPA, bookkeeping certification, accounting diploma) or ongoing professional development.
• Experience working remotely or independently with high levels of accountability and trust.

About Us:Incorporated in 1964, Foothills Nordic Ski Club (FNSC) is a not-for-profit ski club operating out of Confederation Park Golf Course in Calgary. FNSC organizes and delivers cross-country and biathlon programming for athletes of all ages and performance levels, beginning as early as 4 years old. Currently, the Club serves over 300 families and over 1,300 individual members. With approximately 100 cross-country and biathlon coaches (both paid and volunteer) and over 200 active volunteers, the Club’s initiatives include the staging of major events and races in Calgary and the Bow Valley.Foothills is an 8-time Canadian national cross-country aggregate club champion, and is a member of Nordiq Canada, Nordiq Alberta, Biathlon Canada, and Biathlon Alberta.FNSC is in the process of transitioning its operations from a highly volunteer dependent, Board operated and governed organization to include staffed key positions to optimize the sustainability and continued success of the Club.
