Job description: We’re seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to help clients get through tax season stress-free! As part of our team, you’ll support individuals and small businesses with accurate and timely tax return preparation.This is a casual, on-call role, perfect for someone who loves the thrill of solving tax puzzles but does not want to commit to a full-time or permanent role.What’s in it for You?

Compensation & Hours:

  • Pay Rate: $18-$21/hr.

Position Summary:

  • Prepare personal and small business tax returns accurately and in compliance with Canadian and Alberta tax laws
  • Offer guidance on tax-related questions and explain complex information in a simple way
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and make personalized recommendations
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws to provide the best advice

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in preparing tax returns, with a strong understanding of Alberta’s tax regulations
  • Familiarity with electronic tax filing systems
  • Ability to explain complex tax matters in a simple, clear way, making tax talk less intimidating for clients
  • Technologically proficient and experienced with tax preparation, accounting, spreadsheet, and e-signature software
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Flexible availability, especially during peak tax season

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience using Taxprep, Intuit ProConnect Tax, Lacerte, Pro Series, or UFile.
  • Certified Tax Preparer (CTP) certification or other relevant accounting/bookkeeping education.
