As City-Wide Chief of Psychiatry, you will lead one of the largest Mental Health and Addictions Programs in the province, championing excellence in patient care, education, and research with a direct impact on shaping the future of psychiatric care across the region. This strategic leadership role involves enhancing integrated mental health service delivery at both SJHH and HHS and, in collaboration with McMaster University, optimizing academic initiatives, and driving innovative research in psychiatry.You will oversee the integrated psychiatric services across multiple sites, enhancing the synergy between various
psychiatric sub-specialties, including adult, pediatric, and forensic psychiatry. You will be responsible for ensuring high
standards of care are met consistently, improving patient outcomes through innovative treatment practices, and
advancing mental health care quality.Your role will include championing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at addressing key challenges such as the integration of addiction services, reducing wait times, and improving care coordination. You will lead efforts to promote measurement-based care, enhance community partnerships, and advocate for mental health at provincial and national levels.Experience
The successful candidate will be an accomplished psychiatrist with a proven track record of leading system-level change and empowering teams while fostering academic excellence and leading innovations in care. You are a physician licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or eligible for licensure, as recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or other certification that is deemed to be equivalent. You have an academic appointment at McMaster University or should be eligible for one.
