The successful candidate will also act as a Design Lead on projects.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the design of key elements of large infrastructure projects including civil engineering and wet utilities (watermains, sanitary, and storm)
  • Conduct assessments for stormwater management, drainage, and Low Impact Development (LID).
  • Analyze catchment areas, develop hydrological/hydraulic models, and generate engineering designs.
  • Review and produce specifications, bid documents, and project-specific requirements.
  • Contribute to small projects such as the civil engineering design for parks or site development projects.
  • Support the development of graduate engineers and interns in the team.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines to develop holistic design approaches.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of client deliverables.
  • Assist project managers on day-to-day running of projects such as Light Rail Transit (LRT) and water projects across Canada.
  • Attend, contribute to, and lead internal and external project meetings.
  • Engage and work with clients, municipalities, and other utility authorities to obtain approvals for design work.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Present technical material in innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understand industry trends and best practices in the civil and infrastructure markets.
  • Participating in local Professional Associations.

The Qualified candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering.
  • P Eng., licensed in Ontario (preferred).
  • Technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and water quality.
  • Experience working with the City of Toronto, Toronto and Regional Conservation Authority, Toronto Transit Commission, Metrolinx and other municipal authorities in the area and experience gaining approval from these authorities (preferred).
  • Experience with 3D modelling using design software such as Autodesk, Bentley
  • Proficient in hydraulic modelling software (InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, MIKE+, etc.)
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients.
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines and exceptional organization skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
