WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Director, Claims.
  • Work within significant levels of authority on claim files with technical or financial complexities, analyzing information, and developing and communicating strategies to find the best resolutions.
  • Examine files handled by independent Adjusters and provide instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain effective communication with and assist claims management, Adjusters, and experts to promote department and individual development.
  • Work collaboratively with all claims team members provincially along with all business units within AMA Insurance.
  • Support the Director, Claims in maintaining quality service and competitiveness by identifying training, education and development needs of the Adjusters.
  • Assist with catastrophe claims when required. This may involve overtime and business travel.
  • Participate in short-term special projects (e.g., litigation audit, targeted claim file review) as directed by Director, Claims.
  • Identify potential fraud files and involve the Special Investigations Unit as required.
  • Perform monthly file reviews/audits as assigned for compliance and proper file handling.
  • Support and mentor all Claims Adjusters with the handling of complex claims.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively using various methods to meet our insureds’ needs.
  • Represent AMA positively and promote TYLF in all business interactions.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a high school diploma.
  • You have a CIP designation or equivalent.
  • Minimum ten year’s experience with property and casualty claims including personal and commercial lines, and catastrophic losses.
  • Good working knowledge of other business unit functions including underwriting, accounting, statistical and financial reports and insurance systems technology.
  • Technical, product and industry knowledge and skills that are reflective of progression though various claims handling levels.
  • Strong negotiating, mediation and judgment skills.
  • Ability to make informed, confident and timely decisions.
  • Ability to develop and build constructive working relationships both internal and external, despite differing perspectives, through supportive communication and mentoring.
  • Technical knowledge of the litigation processes in Alberta and willingness to learn and adapt to new legislation and out-of-province litigation processes as required.
  • A proactive and logical approach to resolving claims with open-mindedness to others’ opinions.
