CLINICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT Full Time Permanent

Description

Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join Hematology team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a full time, permanent role working Tuesday to Saturday 12:00 am (midnight)  to 8:00 am.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing.
• Follows established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples.
• Operates complex instruments following department procedures.
• Performs simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist.
• Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures.
• Documents all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer’s instructions.
• Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained
• Other duties as assigned

Must have:

• Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent previous experience
• MLAPO Certification
• Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent
• Excellent computer skills

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS an asset
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment.
• Experience with Hematology analyzers.
