Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops collection strategies and monitors past dues while developing standards, improvements, or changes to positively impact past dues and customer service levels.
• Manages daily collection activities for assigned portfolio of customers, including but not limited to, reviewing past due accounts, and making recommendations for escalation.
• Recommending and supporting AFDA balances, monthly.
• Collects payments from customers.
• Sends invoices and statements to customers via facsimile, mail, or email.
• Communicates with customers regarding payment status.
• Generates refund requests.
• Monitors accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
• Researches and resolves invoice discrepancies and customer issues.
• Corresponds with customers and responds to inquiries.
• Contacts and develops relationships with past due clients.
• Proactively manage deteriorating trends and report any potential loss exposures in a timely manner.
• Works with internal departments to handle collection service levels for the largest and most sensitive customer accounts.
• Processes and post credit card payments on account
• Set up customers in document delivery.
• Monthly reporting on all accounts over 60 days.
• Credit overrides to a maximum of 10k, anything above this amount to Credit Managers for approval.
• Match dollar for dollar invoices to clear invoices on AR accounts.
• Reviews payment errors and provide customers with any documents needed to clear errors.
• Assist with audits.
• Back up coverage for other collectors.
• Advising Credit Managers of any accounts they wish to have discussed at monthly industry meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years collection experience including knowledge and understanding of rules/regulations related to collection, repossession, bankruptcy, and litigation.
• Strong problem-solving and effective negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication skills paired with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees at all levels of the organization.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and follow through while maintaining a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong overall keyboarding and internet application skills.

Asset Qualifications

• Post secondary education in finance, accounting, business administration or related field is considered an asset.
• Dealership experience is considered an asset.
