Regular shift times are 8am to 8pm or 4pm to 8pm but may include additional, however shift times may vary depending on person served support needsNumber Of Positions:1Hiring Manager Name & Title:Lisa LaForge – Program DirectorCompensation:$18.80/HourThe ProgramWestlock 336-46 King PinsDiverse abilities program in Westlock supporting 2 persons with developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns.Hiring 1 staff to cover the following shifts, on a rotating 2 week schedule which includes working every other weekend:Day shift: 12-hr 8am to 8pm or 4pm to 8pmThe PositionCommunity Disability Support Workers help the person-served achieve their goals by focusing on that individual’s unique abilities and provide them with skills/tools to overcome challenges; encouraging them during setbacks and celebrating successes with them.In Your Role You Will

  • Assist person-served to develop life skills in the home including household chores (meal prep, laundry, light cleaning, etc.) in a consistent, healthy & safe environment and within their community.
  • Connect the individual with their family, friends & community and encourage healthy relationship building.
  • Drive person in care (in your own vehicle) within the community and supervise/participate with the client in recreational, leisure, vocational (training/employment)activities.

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma/GED
  • 1 year experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, behavior management. (Special Education Assistant, Personal Support Worker, Health Care Aide, etc. will be considered)
  • MANDATORY – Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, 3 yrs Canadian driving experience and clean driver’s abstract
  • Must be physically able to do lifts/transfers and be able to provide personal care, such as bathing, etc.
  • Skills in coaching/assisting individuals in life skills, anger management, daily chores, self help & problem solving, etc.
  • Committed to philosophies and principles of community based living for individuals in service.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Non Violent Crisis Intervention training
