Location: Edmonton Admin (South), hybridYou’re one of those rare people who know how to tap into the strengths of both the left and right sides of your brain. On the one hand, you’re experienced and technically proficient in the world of finance and accounting. On the flip side, you’ve got a knack for communication and inspiring a team to do great work. You’ll be responsible for developing expertise and providing insights in finance matters, which may include IFRS disclosures, tax, accounting, financial planning & budgeting, investments and treasury management, consolidations and financial systems and processes. You will leverage your knowledge and business know-how to assist and provide advice to finance teams and management, enterprise-wide. This position will entail conducting research, analyzing new and existing issues and assessing the impact to the corporate group (which includes several industries, such as insurance, banking, travel, registries, automotive, and member services). Top-notch communication skills are required to effectively communicate throughout all levels within the organization and ensure appropriate recommendations are being provided.WHAT MOVES YOU

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Director, Finance.
  • Research, analyze and evaluate new and existing accounting, tax, and/or financial system issues and assess their impact to the organization.
  • Lead initiatives and projects, leveraging your subject matter expertise.
  • Create innovative approaches to business problems.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management and the board.
  • Analyze, assess, and evaluate financial performance and provide recommendations to existing processes.
  • Coordinate and complete monthly consolidation of financial results and quarterly forecasts.
  • Review financial reporting and information provided by other teams
  • Coordinate deliverables with finance teams enterprise-wide.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to finance teams and management throughout varying levels within the organization. Support Finance-related technology projects by documenting current processes to align processes to a new system.
  • Support the transfer of knowledge across the Finance department.
  • Provide advice to other finance team members in areas of subject matter expertise.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a post-secondary degree in Business.
  • You’re an accounting professional and have a CPA designation.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an Accounting/Finance environment.
  • You have strong communication skills, written and verbal, and have proven presentation and facilitation skills.
  • You’ve worked in jobs where meticulous organization, prioritization and planning have been vital to success.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Your experience includes thinking strategically to solve problems.
  • You have the ability and flexibility to take on the unknown and develop business solutions.
  • You have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel and experience using enterprise financial systems.
