The Construction & Maintenance Lead will focus on planning and executing building construction, maintenance and renovation projects. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position will lead a crew of 8 – 12 team members while ensuring all job sites remain safe, clean, and orderly.What You’ll Do

• Monitor construction and maintenance projects from start to finish to ensure they are completed within budget and on time.
• Plan and coordinate construction and maintenance activities on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
• Prepare estimates for amounts of material that may be needed for construction and maintenance projects.
• Supervise the work of construction/maintenance crew(s) and contractors to ensure work is done correctly and safely.
• Perform computer related tasks and answer email. Training provided.
• Conduct on-site meetings with project team.
• Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and contractors which may include but not limited to change orders, sequence of work etc.
• Monitor and maintain material stock and tool logs.
• Maintain a health and safety culture by ensuring adequate amounts of PPE are in stock at all times and ready for upcoming projects. Ensure crew has proper safety training to perform work.
• Use payroll software to enter crew hours. Training provided if necessary

Qualifications and Experience

• Preference for 5 years proven working experience in construction and maintenance work.
• Journeyperson’s certificate or equivalent experience in a construction or maintenance field is a huge asset.
• Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings and plan sets.
• Ability to run multiple job sites, manage maintenance projects, and create schedules for construction/maintenance work.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment.
• Driver’s license is an essential requirement.
• Safety courses mandatory in NL a strong asset.
• May be required to work outside regular work hours.
