Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Burnaby is hiring a Construction Management Lead for their Highway Engineering team.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:· Provide strategic leadership for the development and management of construction management team for smaller to complex and multi-modal highway* construction projects.· Manage construction projects and contract administration for highways rehabilitation and capital expansion projects of substantial scopes and complexity including but not limited to resurfacing, grading, electrical, environmental and structural** improvements.· Manage the review, processing, and tracking of construction contractor submittals and provide advisory services to clients and project teams.· Provide or lead the delivery of constructability reviews, construction staging for proposed designs, special provisions, contract and tender documents, change orders, client approvals, reviewing pay requests, maintaining logs for Request for Information, as built markups and project close out reports.· Provide, lead or assist with the construction cost estimates to current market conditions for labour and material related to highway construction projects.· Provide and implement construction management plans including but not limited to roles and responsibilities, construction schedules, workflows, quality management and audit plans, communication plan, daily to monthly progress reporting, site safety plans and procedures for regulatory permitting and supporting documentations and approvals related to changed conditions.· Assess, manage and deploy rapid response and recovery efforts on a short notice with ability to travel province wide post mudslides, flooding, and extreme weather events.· Coordinate highway construction activities throughout the construction phase with stakeholders and partners including but not limited to utilities firms, government agencies, regulatory permitting bodies, environmental agencies and partners and the project team.· Lead construction survey and quantities take offs throughout the construction phase including survey and workflow implementation involving Trimble Access and C3D or similar software tools used for highway survey, design and construction.· Lead or implement provincial highway construction methods, standards, procedures including specifications, sequencing and staging ensuring quality standards and design intent are met.· Lead pre-construction and all construction progress meetings with project team, contractors, and clients along with documentations including meeting agenda and minutes.· Assist professionals with field reviews and coordinate construction activities ensuring compliance with construction contract documents and design intents.· Supervise professionals and technical staff including assignment of work, mentoring, performance plans and development in the field of highway construction supervision, management and contract administration.· Assist with the preparation of regulatory requirements, permits, environmental assessments and stakeholder consultation.· Lead proposals and teaming for construction supervision assignments through collaboration with other business lines within AECOM.· Propose opportunities and assist with business development for highway engineering team building in BC.· Implement corporate policies related to quality management and sustainable legacies while supporting AECOM’s vision, values, and key business development priorities.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or similar diploma with 6 years of highway construction management experience.
  • 6 years of progressive experience in managing complex highway construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideally 10+ years experience in highway construction management
  • Experienced with the applications of BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Provincial Standard Specifications and construction methods.
  • Experienced with implementing quality assurance and audits for construction activities in accordance with BC Provincial standards, procedures, and requirements.
  • Experienced with the application of Master Municipal Construction Documents and BC Building Codes.
  • Experienced in resolving disputes and claims related to changed conditions or scopes with highway construction contractors.
  • Experienced with resourcing the supervision of provincial highway construction project to size and complexity of the project.
  • Experienced with the application of BC Supplement to the TAC Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads, BC Bridge Standards and Procedures and Supplement to Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC).
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and interpreting highway engineering policies, practices, procedures, standards, and regulations in BC.
  • Ability to interpret application of the BC Motor Vehicle and BC Transportation Acts.
  • Specialized working expertise for river and water channel works and ground improvements.
  • Experience managing different procurement and delivery methods including but not limited to design bid build, design build, progressive design build, alliance model, day-labour etc.
  • Ability to supervise or coordinate construction activities with other infrastructure projects.
  • *Includes all roads such as arterial, freeways, expressways and involving bridges, interchanges, culverts and other road structures
  • **Includes bridges, retaining walls and culverts
