In partnership with other divisional construction leaders, you will be accountable for construction schedules and the timely integration of construction trades, materials, documentation, and staffing. Reporting to the VP of Construction, the Construction Manager ensures the delivery of clean, complete and deficiency-free homes while embodying our mission of providing the best homeowner experience.What you’ll do
- Embody Mattamy’s core values of Commitment, Teamwork, Sustainability and Community.
- Coach, inspire and develop site managers through various strategic methods to ensure continuous improvement and succession planning.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of construction and seasonal construction programs through regular review of systems and tools with Senior Builders/Project Managers.
- Proactively generate improvements to existing reporting and data integrity, new ways of looking at historic information.
- Analyze and interpret patterns and trends in production data for early diagnosis of issues and create corrective measures.
- Ensure that homes/condos are built to the requirements and specifications established by construction drawings including Design Centre change options and upgrades, building codes, and all Mattamy standards.
- Oversee the measurement and evaluation of quality control with respect to materials and workmanship through regular review and monitoring. Implement corrective measures or improvements as appropriate.
- Monitor production schedules, critical paths for projects, and cost control to ensure that homes are completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the maintenance of adequate staffing at Community sites to ensure timely construction of homes. Includes overseeing the hiring, evaluation, and performance management of staff, as necessary.
- Foster communication between Community sites and Head Office. Provide direction and support to staff to facilitate the completion of work as per the Production Schedule and in accordance with Mattamy’s standards and procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong, productive supplier and trade contractor relationships. Communicate company’s quality and performance standards to each trade contractor and supplier. Conduct periodic work inspections to ensure that those standards are met.
- Keep the Vice President of Construction informed of each project’s current progress and review project’s outlook with Senior Builder/Project Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Post-secondary education in Architecture, Business, Engineering, Project Management or related field, or suitable combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of residential construction experience at a senior level
- Expert communication skills, both written and verbal
- Exemplary leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Skills in building relationships with a broad network of contacts throughout the industry
- Flexibility in hours of work required
- Highly developed organizational skills and time-management ability
- Comfortable using systems and technology (MS Word, Excel, JD Edwards, Email, Sharepoint)
- Must have a valid drivers licence and clean drivers abstract as the role requires the operation of a Mattamy vehicle to perform duties.
