Job description: The Regional Construction Manager is responsible for onsite performance of construction and maintenance work in accordance with contract requirements and ensuring cognizance to cost estimates for realization of maximum profit. The Construction Manager is also responsible for pursuing, booking and the execution of project work, as well as large service and maintenance work within a geographical region.
- Responsible for the implementation of B&W’s core safety processes in the respective Region
- Identify and target future bid opportunities
- Assist in the development of the regional Cost Center budget
- Understand and communicate contract T&C’s
- Manage project P&L within area of responsibility and report project schedule/cost/risk, and overall job status
- Oversee and monitor all aspects of a project from the proposal phase, planning phase and through execution
- Address, advise on and assist with critical issues relative to projects within area of responsibility
- Ensure compliance of project and personnel in accordance with Company policies and procedures and ethics programs
- Communicate and resolve significant project issues
- Monitor project change management issues
- Develop and manage talent within area of responsibility
- Challenge project team(s) to be customer and performance driven
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local building trades, customers, and subcontractors
- Frequently represent B&W opposite organized labor regarding jurisdictional issues, pre-job conference, and grievance processes
- Provide frequent representation opposite organized labour on collective bargaining committees and local/area apprenticeship committees
- Participate in contract negotiations
- Participate in contract execution issue resolution on a frequent basis
- Develop and communicate “lessons learned” upon project completion
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- Bachelor’s of Arts or Technical degree considered
- Experience in managing work within refining, chemical, and industrial facilities preferred
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive problem solver
- Ability to prioritize and multi task while managing multiple projects
- Demonstrates working knowledge of MS Office products
- Previous construction experience as a Site Project Manager overseeing direct hire labor and subcontractors preferred
- Ability to navigate the terrain of an industrial construction site (uneven surfaces, etc.)
