Job description: THOAR Mining provides a wide variety of services in the support and operation of mining, ranging from project management, supervision, underground construction, maintenance, and mining equipment operation.We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Construction & Operations Superintendent (Mill) to support in the day-to-day management and administration of the mill construction site at a potash mine site near Regina. This role will involve supervising contractor activities, ensuring compliance with site policies, maintaining project schedules, and facilitating seamless communication between the construction team and operations. - Oversee the day-to-day supervision of construction activities and ensure compliance with site policies and procedures.
- Manage the construction schedule, including tracking milestones and making adjustments as necessary to ensure timely project completion.
- Review and approve work permits, ensuring all required documentation is in place before work begins.
- Collect and review Labour, Equipment, and Materials (LEMs) to verify accuracy and completeness.
- An active site presence will be mandatory
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings and ongoing communications between contractors, site teams, and site management.
- Provide regular reports on project progress to the Construction Manager and Procurement.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate technical answers with the appropriate site team members.
- Provide input and feedback on contractor plans to ensure alignment with project goals and site requirements.
- Conduct field inspections and spot checks to verify contractor compliance with site policies, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Support the Construction Manager by reporting contract-related information and assisting with procurement processes.
- Act as the liaison between construction and operations, ensuring smooth coordination and interfacing between the two teams.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience leading Mechanical & Piping scopes in heavy industrial construction projects
- Specific experience in boiler construction/tie-ins is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in construction supervision, preferably in large-scale industrial or heavy industry projects.
- Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers license for travel to site.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, safety protocols, and compliance requirements (i.e. TSASK, CWB)
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, site teams, and management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and technical documents.
- Proficiency in reporting and tracking project milestones, budgets, and contract-related information.
- Experience with reviewing and approving work permits and managing construction schedules.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and working with procurement teams to report contract-related information.
- Previous experience working on projects in the mining, potash, or industrial sectors is an asset.
