Job description: CompanyWest Edmonton MallDepartmentTriple 5 Head OfficeClosing DateAug 09, 2024Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, the Construction Project Coordinator will have the responsibility of managing the planning, direction, and coordination of Tenant and common area activities pertaining to construction and renovations projects for West Edmonton Mall and Triple Five related entities and properties. In addition, the role will require taking the lead on special projects, assignments and responsibilities.Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with company representatives to ensure the completion of renovation projects within set budgets, timelines, and expected quality standards according to plans and specifications.
- Leveraging industry experience to oversee various tenant space and common mall area renovations, remodeling projects, tasks, and trade services at multiple locations as project demands dictate.
- Understanding construction/renovation project plans and specifications with the ability to read design plans, schematics, work orders, blueprints, etc.
- Reviewing project plans and specifications thoroughly.
- Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and risk items, and develop associated mitigation measures.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising the activities of general contractors, trade contractors, subcontractors, and internal resources necessary for completion of various renovations jobs and projects.
- Assist in continually monitoring and addressing project inspections, quality control, code and safety compliance, and timeline adherence, ensuring all proper follow-ups, repairs, or remodeling are completed to client satisfaction.
- Working with and supporting Head of Planning with regards to code compliance and Permitting.
- Responding to information requests, prioritizing workloads, and speaking on behalf of the Construction Department when requested.
- Monitoring daily tenant construction work, completion timelines, and deficiency reports.
- Maintaining and implementing proper procedures for project documentation including record drawings, material delivery, change orders, shop drawings, and requests for information from consultants and sub trades.
- Procuring both sub trade and general contractor pricing and preparation of contract documentation.
- Issuing and monitoring of purchase orders, processing and approving invoices in conjunction with budget control measures.
- Reviewing of Tenant Consultant drawings for compliance with Mall requirements (in collaboration with the Mall’s own Consultant).
- Liaising with Tenant Consultants over design of storefronts, signage, lease lines etc.
- Preparation and submission of Building Permits and the like.
- Preparing weekly updates for ownership on current and anticipated workload including risk items.
- Producing of Schedules for individual projects and high-level forecast schedule for known upcoming work.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous project coordination experience in the renovations and construction industry.
- Working knowledge of the renovations industry including setting project timelines, renovation administration procedures, and proper measurements, design, and code specifications.
- Formalized training in a related trade or renovations-based discipline with previous experience in project management or supervisory training as an asset. Understanding construction/renovation project plans and specifications with the ability to read design plans, schematics, work orders, blueprints, etc.
- Exceptional project management, people management, and time management skills with the ability to ensure all renovations and construction projects are executed in accordance with the project drawings, specifications and schedules.
A high level of professional communication skills and the capability to work with various trades people, contractors, technical personnel, executives and owners.Terms of Employment:
- This is a full-time position that is required Monday through Friday but is required to have professional flexibility for various hours of work as needed on a project-by-project basis.
- This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
- This position is also eligible for our 4-day workweek program.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
