We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time.The Construction Technician is responsible for overseeing projects in the field, providing coordination and direction of the work, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring workers follow standard practices and procedures for their work tasks. Types of projects include but are not limited to integrity digs, tank and vessel cleaning, piping modifications, ILI tool runs, cathodic ground bed installs, depth of cover mitigation, pipeline discontinuance and abandonments, cut out and replacement programs, site cleanup and reclamation, HDD, large and small diameter bores, and ground monitoring well installs.This position requires travel (25%) while being based out of Plains’ Drayton Valley, Olds, Rocky Mountain House, Sundre, or Rimbey facility depending on the candidate’s permanent residence.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise field execution of pipeline and facility construction projects.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures in accordance with legislation and company policy to ensure the safety of all workers.Verify and authorize 3rd party contractor daily tickets for labor, equipment, and materials; maintain daily site cost tracking and project reporting.Provide construction support through various project stages including pre-job scouting, project planning, schedule management, cost tracking, HSE performance, contractor quality performance.Review, develop and provide input into construction bid packages, construction execution plans, project safety plans, and procedures.Participate in construction bid reviews and contractor clarifications regarding scope of work, schedule, safety and cost.Attend project meetings as required.Coordinate and participate in site safety inspections.Work closely and maintain good relationships with Operations, Engineering, Asset Integrity, EH&S, Land, Supply Chain and Project Controls to ensure successful project delivery.Maintain Preventative Maintenance and Work Order ManagementProvide PM rationalizationKnowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, preferably in the oil and gas industry, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.American Petroleum Institute (API) Certification would be considered an assetKnowledge of construction standards, codes, regulations, and best practices, as well as familiarity with the types of projects listed in the summary.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts, as well as to prepare and submit reports, summaries, and other project documentation.Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle complex and challenging situations.Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications, such as project management software, scheduling tools, and cost tracking systems.Willingness to travel to various project sites for extended periods, sometimes in remote or harsh conditions, and to work flexible hours as needed.Certification in First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS, and other relevant safety courses, as well as a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.Our employees drive our success.
