Job description: Corporate Controller – 14-month Contract RoleOur client in Calgary is currently seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to join their team. A successful candidate will play a key position within the team, requiring strong leadership and analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting and reporting. The Corporate Controller is responsible for external financial reporting, compliance reporting, accounting policy decisions and application, accounting standard monitoring and implementation, financial accounting and reporting systems and processes, internal controls compliance, assessment and monitoring of counterparty credit risks and is a key contributor to management and executing the plan from the executive.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A.
  • Develop financial policies and procedures and research IFRS accounting standards.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls.
  • Coordinate and review quarterly tax provisions and annual tax returns for all legal entities.
  • Manage quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Assessment and monitoring of counterparty credit risk.
  • Provide leadership to Financial Accountants and Accounts Payable department
  • Foster a cohesive team environment and build a talent pipeline as appropriate.
  • Continue to build and maintain a cohesive, effective and motivated team.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders across the business.

Your strengths include:

  • CPA designation with previous industry experience preferably upstream oil and gas
  • 8+ years of financial and/or operational accounting and external reporting experience.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS standards
  • Advanced knowledge of Qbyte FM and Optix considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong people leader and team player, with the ability to motivate, develop and coach a high-performing team
