Job description: Job DescriptionOur client, a state-of the-art production facility and retail operation based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, is seeking a Controller to join their team and play a crucial role in developing and implementing financial and business strategies for its quickly expanding operations.This is a permanent opportunity ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a start-up environment with a fast-paced, driven, and passionate team and who has experience reporting to, and advising, a Board of Directors while overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities.Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Prepare financial statements and reports for the board
• Supervise and support accounting team members
• Inventory costing
• AP/AR and payroll review
• Banking and cash management
• Ensure financial compliance
• Identify financial risks and maintain internal controls
• Collaborate with HR on resolving team-focused opportunities and/or issues
• Lead periodic forecasting and budgeting
• Support and contribute to year-end financial audit processes

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• 5+ years’ diverse senior experience, ideally gained in a similar dynamic, fast-paced and/or start-up environment
• Chartered Professional Accountant designation, or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of financing, forecasting, and working with financial institutions
• Proven success in a high growth, constantly changing environment
• Strategic planning and business analysis mind-set
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to create and foster an open and collaborative working environment
• Ability to take accountability for work timelines and accuracy
• Honest and trustworthy work ethic
