Job description: Job DescriptionOur reputable Energy Services client is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Controller to join the team! This position is based in Calgary Downtown and will be a pivotal role in leading the finance team, financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving financial strategy will support our client’s continued expansion and success.Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to guide decision-making and ensure financial stability.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis for management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and manage risk through internal controls and audits.
• Collaborate with executive team to develop financial strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting, analysis, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Supervise and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
• Experience using or implementing NetSuite is essential
• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, regulations, and financial reporting across US/Canadian GAAP and IFRS standards.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to present complex financial information in an understandable manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
