Job description: ControllerOur client is currently seeking an experienced Controller to join their team in Calgary. This role demands a dynamic professional who excels in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance while identifying opportunities to optimize financial performance. An ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise and strategic insight to ensure financial processes align with the company’s goals.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
• Monitor and manage cash flow
• Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Establish and enforce effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Mitigate financial risks by maintaining appropriate checks and balances.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights that guide business strategies.
• Evaluate and recommend financial opportunities to enhance profitability

Your strengths include:

• CPA designation with 3+ years relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS.
• Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Exceptional communication skills
