Job description: Controller, Private Equity – Permanent – 17697About the OpportunityWe have partnered with our valued client to help them to find a new Controller.This well-respected organization is private, family-owned organization, that is based in Alberta and has a 20+ year successful and progressive track record of building and managing companies.This group provides a dynamic and technically challenging environment for candidates who are looking to advance their career and get exposure to a variety of reporting components, operations, and people.Reporting to and working closely with the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for key components of managing the day-to-day accounting duties, build and supervise a team along with improving process and procedures. The Controller will focus primarily on overseeing cash flow, accounting, internal controls, processes, analysis and reporting.This is a very independent and autonomous role that requires someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and has both financial reporting and operational acumen.The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting and supervise the team
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements
- Management reporting
- Cash flow management
- Prepare monthly capital reporting and actual to budget analysis
- Payroll support and management
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Assist in the documentation and maintenance of the Company’s internal control policies and procedures
- Support IT, risk management and general system requirements
- Insurance
- Senior management meetings and presentations
- Process and procedure enhancement/improvement
- Other duties as required
About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
- You are an operationally and financially focused CPA with 5+ years post designation experience
- Ideally, you have at least 2+ years supervisory experience as well
- University degree with a major in accounting
- Experience with public practice is considered an asset
- Hands-on full cycle experience
- Strong attention to detail and deadline-orientated with strong analytic and problem-solving skills
- Energetic and pro-active
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Proficient in MS Office

- Base salary ideally in the $120,000 – $140,000 range
