(Three 11.25 hour shifts per week)The MHST Crisis Worker is part of a mobile response team serving South Simcoe and York Region. Working in partnership with York Region Police, South Simcoe Police and Nottawasaga OPP and York Region EMS services, the MHST Crisis Response Worker is responsible for providing crisis assessment, intervention and stabilization to individuals who have serious mental health and/or addiction concerns and as necessary link individuals to appropriate ongoing mental health & addiction services. MHST units are comprised of a Police officer and Crisis Worker.Day, evening and weekend shiftsPosition Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Social Work or related discipline (i.e. Health Sciences)
  • Minimum three years related experience
  • Knowledge and practice of short-term urgent response, psychosocial rehabilitation approach and advanced clinical, crisis and assessment skills are assets
  • Experience working with individuals having a serious mental illness is essential
  • Crisis skills for adults and children experiencing a mental health crisis are desirable
  • Completion of CPI, CPR and ASIST training as per agency guidelines
  • Experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system is an asset
  • A second language is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the local service system is essential
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a police clearance that meets agency standards
  • A valid G Drivers License, access to a reliable vehicle and business use insurance coverage, OR access to reliable transportation.
