Safety is the cornerstone of our culture, because if we are not safe, nothing else matters.Your Opportunity at SECURE EnergyAs our Crude Oil Quality Field Specialist you will be responsible for is responsible for ensuring the continuation of the PRD Quality Compliance Program (QCP), while working in a fast-paced environment to safely handle and optimize our facilities inbound and outbound crude streams to mitigate commercial risk at the field level.This role is based out of Grande Prairie, AlbertaThe TeamThe Crude Oil Quality Field Specialist will work closely with various teams, including Measurement, Logistics, Volumetric Accounting, Crude Oil Marketing, and Operations, ensuring seamless collaboration across departments to maintain and enhance SECURE’s quality systems.A Day in The LifeThe responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as a point of contact for Secure Energy’s PRD Quality programs (QCP).
  • This includes facility training and additional build of QCP chapters to continuously improve the program for Secure Energy Field Operations.
  • Assist the Lead Quality/Optimization Specialist in developing and ensuring that standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are implemented in accordance with the SES QCP and applicable ASTM methods for field staff.
  • Act as a Commercial Blend Champion focusing on high performance Diluent utilization to maximize injection ratios set by Crude Oil Marketing.
  • Act as the operation’s Quality Specialist responsible for mentoring Facility Quality Champions/Operations and Ops support personnel regarding high performance blending and QCP knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards pertaining to all measuring devices and product quality assurance of pipeline systems.
  • Act as a PRD field champion to roll out and further develop the newly created Blending SOP’s and train as required for Midstream Infrastructure mindset.
  • Complete and perform key maintenance on critical quality analytics devices, document and report findings for the Lead to review.
  • Act as the field liaison for commercial blend plans for operations to assist them to maximize profit models.
  • Assist in all field measurement audits; review data from offloads to help facilities balance properly and maintain customer relationships and report any issues to the SR. Measurement tech.
  • Assist in training and JTO’s for operations field testing/scheduling and completion of all field-based analysis while working within the PQM system.
  • Field Auditing and training required when Necessary.
  • Assist, validate, and respond to field level infractions by working with operations to change and mitigate quality blend plans based off Sr. Quality Specialist/Optimization Lead recommendations.
  • Assist in investigations regarding quality related incidents to determine root cause and ensure that all work is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Assist operations with third party customer training programs.
  • Assist in reporting and maintaining:
  • Diluent usage vs blend plans
  • Over/short on C4 utilization
  • TVP testing resolution
  • Density goals and shortfalls
  • Sulphur goals and shortfalls
  • Contamination volume tracking and reporting

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of crude oil chemistry and ASTM hydrocarbon test methods required.
  • Direct Experience with Crude oil quality determinations considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Ability to interface with multiple facility managers, perform audit functions, and able to build reports based off findings.
  • Strong ability to build working relationships, customer service oriented, and able to build contacts within the organization, as well as with external regulators, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. Teach understanding through use of multiple platforms so the targets can be achieved.
  • Must be willing to travel, work flexible hours, and be on call to respond to infractions when they occur.
  • High energy, result focused individual, works well in a fast-paced environment, and able to make decisions with financial implications in mind.

BachelorsExperience : 3 years: Direct Experience with Crude oil quality determinations considered an asset.
3 years: Strong understanding of crude oil chemistry and ASTM hydrocarbon test methods required.
3 years: Knowledge of Lab set up and workflow requirements required.
3 years: Knowledge of sampling systems, API 8.2 knowledge required
3 years: Chemistry and Chemical engineering diploma or equivalent training considered an asset but must have prior ASTM related knowledge of quality determination and testing methods.
3 years: Previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry.
