Salary: (Min – $4,402.49) to (Max – $5,590.52) bi-weekly ($114,904.99 – $145,912.57/year)Legislative OfficeOffice of the Auditor GeneralWe are seeking an experienced Public Service Human Resources (HR) Business Leader who is well versed in Alberta government HR related legislation and directives to join our team. The role requires a seasoned general practitioner who has subject matter expertise in the key operational elements of the people side of our business. You are guided by your values based dedication to delivering a wide range of HR services implementing and overseeing programs that meet current and emerging organizational needs. You serve both our Edmonton office and our Calgary sub-office.Our ideal HR leader can translate effective people practices to our legislative audit teams by understanding the requirements and rhythm of our audit mandate and business. Working for the auditor of the Alberta government, the level of rigor and accountability is elevated, accordingly you are the type of leader who rises to the challenge.Our collaborative team including the Executive Director, People and Culture, Lead of Audit Resources, Lead of People Development, Consultants, and Payroll Services, are a small but mighty team. Working at a director level of responsibility alongside the team, you lead and operationlize the full scope of HR services ensuring our audit business runs efficiently and effectively.Who We AreWe are an office of 150 professionals mandated by the Auditor General Act to examine and report publicly on the Government of Alberta’s management of the public resources entrusted to it. The Auditor General reports to the Legislative Assembly, providing MLAs with independent, reliable information on government spending and performance. Our reports are tabled in the Legislative Assembly, making them accessible to all Members of the Legislative Assembly and the public. You have attended the HR school of hard knocks and appreciate the value of clearly defined HR policy and programs while demonstrating resilience, flexibility, self care and humor. You know your stuff. You can make sound decisions and back them up with evidence and experience. You resolve complex HR problems by applying your wisdom, expertise and sound professional judgment.In the Director, Human Resources role, you will lead team members and manage operational programs and processes including performance excellence, job evaluation, employee relations, health, safety and wellness, recruitment, compensation, contracting, employee engagement and HR metrics. You offer professional support to all levels of the office with a particular focus on services to the management and executive group. Reporting to the People and Culture Executive Director, you are a member of a tight knit team of corporate services professionals serving the 150 staff members within the Office of the Auditor General, where you develop and implement HR programs and initiatives aligned with the overall office’s strategy and business plan.The role functions within a values based leadership culture including our 5 values noted above, 5 practices of exemplary leadership: model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart; as well as 8 enabling competencies: applying professional and public sector knowledge, acting ethically, leading, collaborating, managing self, adding value, solving problems and making decisions, communicating.You demonstrate excellence as a senior human resources practitioner through implementing and maintaining HR programs in adherance to legislation and best practices. Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written are required. You have the professional and personal qualities to maintain reliability, confidentiality, and integrity.
