This position is responsible for overseeing the logistics, transportation, and warehouse activities within the company and will supervise the movement, distribution and storage of supplies, materials, and products at Hunter Amenities.Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to articulate and communicate a strategic plan in logistics and warehouse management to senior management.
- Understanding and implementation of operational metrics as it pertains to warehouse management and logistics, and setting performance goals
- Preparing logistics operations as it pertains for expected challenges (such as spikes in seasonal demand) and unforeseen challenges (as supply chain blockages) with effective contingency plans in place.
- Managing working capital expectations as it relates to warehouse efficiencies to remove and dispose of expired/obsolete inventory in an organized and expedient manner.
- Ownership of the entire logistics process (negotiations with carriers/brokers) to provide measurable savings without sacrificing on-time delivery metrics
- Introduction of relevant technology to improve warehouse operations with a measurable payback
- Consistently uses best practices to optimize the use of space, product flow, and to improve warehouse efficiency
- Utilize Hunter’s global warehouse network to find efficiencies for incoming/outgoing product
- Understands and navigates the transportation market and carrier regulations in Canada and the United States, with extensive knowledge of CTPAT and trade regulations for US-Canada and International shipping regulations, restrictions and rules.
- Able to evaluate, and build effective teams as it pertains to logistics and warehouse optimization and operations.
- Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Achieves financial objectives by establishing objectives; developing budgets; controlling costs; maximizing use of assets.
- Complies with legal requirements by enforcing company policies, practices and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- If required, develops new locations by studying expansion of facilities, new warehouses, recommending best option.
- Developing risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-10 years’ experience at a senior level overseeing logistics and warehouse management
- 5+ years in a leadership role
- A bachelors degree in Logistics, supply chain management, or related field is essential
- Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution is highly desirable.
- Experience in a logistics role and warehouse management with a proven track record in logistics strategy, and management.
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Experience in successfully accomplishing goals and organizational objectives of grand scope.
- Conflict management skills
