What you’ll do:As one of our Drivers, you’ll be driving a well-maintained vehicle while also professionally representing our organization to our customers. This position is for people motivated to drive heavy vehicles (Class 3/DZ License) and provide excellent customer service. You will also work as a Shipper-Receiver as part of this job and you will be responsible for maintaining receiving and shipping log, accurately placing all received stock on shelves, designating items for customer orders and placing all items specific to a job together. The position is also accountable for picking items off the shelves, ensuring accuracy in quantity and type of product selected. They are responsible for expediting the orders to the customers or branches.Your responsibilities will include:
- Multiple deliveries (requiring loading and unloading of cylinders)/ day (5 or 10 ton truck) of gas products and hardgoods to local customers within the assigned geographical area
- Balancing cylinder load sheets and daily cylinder records
- Some administration duties including the use of handheld technology to process deliveries and reconcile agent consignment inventory balances
- Comply with all government regulations
- Maintaining vehicles as per company vehicle policy, observe safety requirements, and wear safety equipment and report safety hazards to supervisor
- Operates a forklift to load and unload trucks, and gather stock from the warehouse
- Manually unloads multiple cartons and places cartons on pallets as requested. Cartons weigh up to 60lbs each
- Receives all goods according to standard written procedures, recording all incoming shipments, checking shipments against purchase orders and verifying contents of shipments against packing slips
- Sorts materials and places in designated stock locations in warehouse
- Takes physical inventory on rotating items per directions from supervisor
- Performs other duties as requested by Branch Manager
What it takes:
- Valid Class 3 or DZ license with air brakes
- Minimum of 1 year driving experience with recognized driving school training or 3 years driving experience
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent experience
- A clean driving abstract (abstract to be readily available to submit, when asked)
- Ability to handle and lift goods up to 60 lbs.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Assets to have:
- Knowledge of the gas and/or welding industry
- Experience using handheld electronic devices
- WHMIS/TDG certification
