Our Energy & Resources team is growing and looking to hire either an Engineer or an EIT to be part of our Red Lake, Thunder Bay office.Engineers in Training (EIT) work under the guidance of a Professional Engineer, fulfilling various tasks ranging from assisting staff with new projects, conducting research, and managing data. EITs attend meetings, conduct desktop and field research, perform all practical and administrative duties assigned by the supervising Engineer, travel to other sites when required, assist on projects, offer suggestions for improvement, and write reports. EITs are actively working to gain meaningful engineering experience as they work towards their professional designation.

  • Preparing of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications in accordance with established codes

and standards (O.B.C, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).

  • Creating models and design drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Carrying out routine technical surveys, calculations, assessments, and designs of under the

supervision of a Senior Engineer.

  • Completing all tasks set by the Principal and/or Project Lead and assisting wherever possible.
  • Following instruction of Lead Engineer, Design Lead, Technical Manager, or Principal.
  • Observing existing strategies and techniques and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Conducting research and collating data.
  • Traveling to different sites and gaining practical experience in new environments.
  • Working closely with staff to foster professional values and build good relationships.
  • Observing health and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Attending meetings and workshops as required.
  • Submitting to all forms of evaluation during the traineeship.
  • Compiling reports and delivering presentations to staff members and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with drafting requirements as needed.
  • Contributing to project goals.
  • Conducting field work, as required.
  • Profile
  • University Degree in Civil or Structural engineering or Mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of Canadian standards and codes governing structural design
  • Working knowledge in computer assisted design programs (AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation) is an asset
  • Knowledgeable of structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP, ETABS, Mathcad, etc.)
