Job description: About The TeamSupporting the Engineering & Construction business in the Corporate Solutions, Canada Region, you will be part of a small but dynamic team of experienced underwriters, focused on profit-oriented unAbout The RoleGenerate and underwrite new business in the engineering and construction sector with brokers and clients in Canada and assisting in USA and globally.Extend our footprint as a recognized insurance partner by assessing, proposing and negotiating the insurance conditions for all kind of large and midsize construction projects of the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, building and heavy civil works sectors.Work closely with the Canadian and US teams in respect of clients and brokers.Assess risks, coverage, terms and conditions. Drive the related underwriting processes and assure an appropriate risk management framework is in place. Triage new submissions quickly and effectively.As a member of the global Engineering and Construction community, act as a point of reference on technical issues in the region and keep track on new technologies and market trends.Support the growth of associated lines of business by actively cross selling the capabilities of the business unit and contribute to the development of solutions and marketing strategies that are tailored to our clients’ needsAbout YouIn-depth knowledge of insurance, engineering and construction underwriting, and the Canadian insurance marketMinimum 2 to 5 years underwriting experience or equivalentBusiness sense, service mindset and entrepreneurial spirit with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on executionStrong broker and client networkClient-centric with a forward, dedicated style anticipating customer future needsExcellent negotiating/communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work well with teams and groups in multiple offices across organizational boundariesStrong analytical skillsAbility to demonstrate a high level of integrity and credibilityStrong teammate, intuition for business, entrepreneurial approachAbility to work under pressure and handling a high workloadAvailability for travel in Canada, across North America and Globally as neededFluency in English, French would be an assetAbout Swiss Re Corporate SolutionsSwiss Re is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer.
