We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.Nexans Canada Inc. – Fergus, is a top employer in the region and we are looking to fill the role of Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for managing plant Projects, Digital and Industry 4.0, along with ensuring that equipment and processes are efficient and the Capital Plan includes projects to maintain cost competitiveness. The Engineering Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager.HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

• Ensure that all Health and Safety as well as Environmental regulations are complied with.
• Ensure Environmental targets are identified and supported
• Create roadmap for Digital/Industry 4.0 and implement
• Responsible for material cost reductions (copper, plastics, aluminum, length)
• Keep abreast of developments related to manufacturing equipment to ensure the Company is operating in the most efficient and cost effective manner and that objectives for continuous improvement are achieved.
• Work with other functions of the Plant to be aware of activities and recognize key problems areas and define objectives to improve. Support as needed.
• Responsible to identify productivity, capacity and capability improvements. Create, update and manage the Capital Plan
• Review employee’s performance and career plans accordingly
• Maintain employee morale and encourage a team environment in order to ensure a positive and productive work force
• Control expenses to ensure that the budget is maintained and implement any expense reduction measures
• Responsible for site Engineering
• Project Management
• Implement systems to drive change and improved efficiency and effectiveness of projects.
• Develop the new Fergus Technical team
• Weekly project update meeting

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?

• University degree in Engineering or equivalent along with 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are a must
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Process thinking and problem solving skills
• Project Management skills
• Digital/Industry 4.0 background and aptitude
• Impact driven, willingness to make things happen
• Business sense, visionary / out of box thinking
• Customer focused
• Substantial understanding of wire and cable products and processes
• Analytical and structured: capability to analyze & reconcile high quantity of data with complex files
• Ability to prioritize and effectively handle several projects simultaneously
