If you want to work in an environment that values hard work, entrepreneurship, and collaborative teamwork, Lafarge Construction is for you.We are currently seeking a seasonal, full-time Bridge Construction – Operator/ Laborer to join our team our Bridge Maintenance Division in Northern Alberta. Shift is on a 10-days-on, 4-days-off rotation and the work sites is are located between Wabasca and Slave Lake area.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the ability to work safely and follow safety guidelinesPerform permitted labor related duties as assigned (confined space, hot work, work at heights…)Capable of performing physical labour without health or physical concernsDemonstrate the mathematical abilities necessary to accurately measure and plan job site constructionExcellent hand-eye coordination needed to operate machineryKnowledge of heavy machinery of all sizes and kindsInspect each piece of machinery to ensure it is in proper working condition before the start of each shiftPerform and carry out excavation or specific digs needed for projectsProficient in reading maps and diagrams of buried pipelines and other utilitiesProfessional demeanor with crew members as well as managers and Owners/ ClientsOversee the safety precautions required when using heavy machineryWork in a team environment to ensure that project timelines are metDetermination in completing jobs precisely without oversightsPerform work in outdoor construction site settingsEnsure all environmental work practices have been implemented and concerns are addressedQualifications:Experience and CompetenciesValid driver’s license and reliable transportationWilling to work out of town; most of the Bridge projects will be considered remote.Road construction experience is considered an assetPrevious experience working on bridge demolition and new bridge construction projectsAbility to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkersThis position is primarily a Laborer position with concrete/ earthwork/ assembly skillsThe operation of equipment may be intermittent, as requiredThe operator must perform other labour activities when operating activities are not requiredOversee the safety precautions required when using heavy machineryOperate medium size to small size excavators, front end loaders and skid steer loadersSupport subcontractors on site such as crane and rigging operationsWork under pressure, near live traffic, around ground personnel and other equipmentMust understand and meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policiesWilling to work flexible hours, night shifts, weekends and multiple projects.Understand outdoor settings: inclement weather, heat/ humidity; exposure to dust/ smokeMust be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basisTrain new crew members in safety precautions for excavators and other machinesReport progress needs or other pertinent information to site managersAs part of our dedicated focus on the health and safety of all employees, a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and a criminal record check, may be required.YOUR LAFARGE EXPERIENCE
