You will also provide support to the Design Studio by carrying out pricing of pre-planned options and extras, addressing day-to-day concerns of site and office staff related to items in the Design Studio, inputting model specific book codes in the JD Edwards database and carrying out maintenance of the database as directed. This involves performing various independent tasks as well as assisting the Contracts & Purchasing Manager and working to provide The Best Homeowner Experience.What you’ll do

  • Provide quantity take-off in all trades discipline for budgeting and tendering. Will be heavily involved in Lumber and Rebar quantity take offs to all house model/product line up.
  • Material items and rates entry into JD Edwards system. Maintain and update rates and take offs from time to time.
  • Prepares and assembles detailed cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects reflective of industry experience, current market conditions and project specifics, including support feasibility studies and value engineering
  • Analyze design drawings, specifications, consultants reports and initiate RFIs as required
  • Prepare trades and suppliers tender package
  • Assist with resolving trades contract related issues
  • Analysis of cost comparison and differences in products and services; compares contractor proposals with required project scope to determine completeness.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with subcontractors, construction staff and supervisors.
  • Maintain and update internal cost database
  • Release Purchase Orders appropriately to meet construction schedule.
  • Assist and guide junior staff to successfully follow good estimating principles.
  • Participate in site visits to check lumber usage in coordination with the Site Team, assess if model take off adjustment is required.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary degree(s) and/or certificate(s) in architecture, engineering, construction and/or project management
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating, budgeting and procurement in a construction environment
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and consultants reports
  • Ability to perform quantity take-off in all trades discipline
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team is essential
  • Computer literacy, with strong knowledge of Excel and Word;
